Dongtan Coal Mine is situated in the middle east of the Yanzhou coalfield. It was started construction in 1979 and put into commercial operation in 1989. Its designed annual capacity is 4Mt raw coal. Certain sections of its main mining seams are consolidated into one layer with an average thickness of 8.41 meters, and the remaining sections are divided into two layers with average thickness of 5.38 meters for the upper seam and 3.22 meters for the lower seam. The mine usually adopts the comprehensive mechanized top coal caving mining method mainly for mining consolidated seam and upper seam. Up to 31, December, 2007, the proven and probable reserve is about 471.3 million tones Original designed capacity of Dongtan Coal Mine preparation plant is of 3Mt/a raw coal. And most equipments of it, including the jig machines, heavy medium cyclones and floatation cells are manufactured in China. Its principal product is No. 2 clean coal/thermal coal.
