The coalfield of Austar Coal Mine is totaled 63km2, with geological reserve of 140 million tones and recoverable coal reserve of 50 million tones. The coal seam is ranging from 4.5 meters to 7.5 meters in thickness with seam dip angle of 4 degree and burying depth ranging from 450 meters to 700 meters. Its coal belongs to low ash and high calorific bituminous coal with calorific value of 8000kcal/kg, due to its fluidity characteristic like coking coal, the coal can be used directly for metallurgy. The coal mine is associated with preparation plant and self-operating railway, and granted with land license of 1600 hectares. The perspective reserve of its new proven area is about 200 million tones.

    After a year of preparation and organization through roadway development, a ceremony to celebrate the successful commercial operation of Austar Coal Mine and production of the first Australian top coal caving mining face was held on October,11th, 2006. The output of raw coal of Austar Coalmine was 2 million tones end 31st December,2007.
